League Information

The 2016/17 South West Cyclo-Cross League will be staged over xx off-road circuits, promoted in Somerset, Devon and Cornwall. All South West League events are sanctioned and held under British Cycling regulations, for further details please refer to the British Cycling Cyclo-Cross Handbook 2015.

Categories and Timetable:

10:30 hrs - Under 8's (Duration 10 - 15 minutes):
Under 8's compete over a shortened course that allows parents/guardians to encourage and support their children safely.
11:00 hrs - Under 12's (Duration 10 - 15 minutes): Under 12's compete over a shortened course that allows parents/guardians to encourage and support their children safely.
12:00 hrs - Youth (Duration 30 minutes): Generally race over the full circuit, but sometimes with difficult obstacles removed.
12:01 hrs - Novice (Duration 30 minutes): Generally race over the full circuit, but sometimes with difficult obstacles removed.
13:30 hrs - Senior, Junior, Veteran and Ladies (Duration 60 minutes): Compete on the full circuit and all competitors finish on the same lap as the winner. The lap score judges will count down the last five laps, lap number boards will be displayed at the finish line.

Competing in the South West Cyclo-Cross League:

A maximum of SEVEN rounds will be counted towards a competitors total point score from the TEN round league.
To qualify for the overall league standings and be eligible for a league award, competitors must compete in a minimum of FIVE league events. The SW Cyclo-Cross Championships is a counting round.
Points will be awarded to the first 30 finishers, in each category, on the basis of: 50 to the winner, 44 to second place, 40 to third place; 36, 33, 30, 28, 26, 24, 22, 20 and then descending by 1 point intervals to 1 point for 30th place.
Should a competitor DNF they will be awarded zero points, however, the round can be counted to achieve the minimum of FIVE counting rounds.
Volunteers who stand down from competing will be awarded their average point score for their season, up to a maximum of two events. These events can be counted towards the minimum of SIX events.
In the event of a tie on points, overall positions will be decided on the competitors placing in the final league event.
Events carry, where applicable, British Cycling National Ranking points.

League Entry:
Many of the events now benefit from online entry via the British Cycling website. Entry for all rounds, except the South of England Championships, is accepted on the day. Below you will find the current South West League entry form. To assist our volunteer sign on team please download a copy of the entry form and bring it to registration completed, this will speed up your registration.


Please also remember to present your British Cycling Membership card at sign-on, otherwise Senior, Junior, Veteran and Lady competitors will be charged a £5 event surcharge.
